Bullet Points Kill (Effective Communication)

In the artical Bullet Points Kill by Cliff Atkinson he says that Bullet points kills communication. And when you use bullet points in a PowerPoint, you're shooting yourself in the foot. He is absaloute agains the people that use power point. He says that power point is just to shortain big work sheets. Here the people has the option to read a 120-page business plan or a 12-page bullet point summary, where most would choose the bullet points. Here he is strongly saing that bullet points on a screen make information harder to understand, not easier. So bullet point has nothing to do in a power point.

A Broken PowerPoint Culture

Cliff Atkinson says in his article "A Broken PowerPoint Culture" that people dont know or better said they dont want to know that power pont is a big problem even thoug Cliff Atkinson thinks that it is a very big problem. There are some people that want to try to fix the problem. But they dont konow how to do it. The problem is that the organizations dont dont know where to start. He says that it is not hard to fix this poblem but everyone wants it too.

The Sound of One Room Napping

Here Seth Godin says that power point presentation on an conferance is always the same. It gets boring by the time. Only to use the bullet points makes the poworer point bad and boring. He says that a lot of bullet points are not good in a conference. He says thath the conference speakers has to also think about the people which are consentrating on the power point. He says to make it good they must avoid bullet points. He says the speakers consentrate on a power point uniform. He says to be different and effective they have to use well written documents.

PowerPoint Blog Assignment #3

I think power point is used well. The person who does the power point has the option to make it well or to make it really borring. Power point makes the work more easier and better. It is better to have a power point presentation instead of just reading something to your class. It is also bettre for the teachers that cant daraw or has creative ideas to have a presentation. The students also would like to see a pwer point presentation in class. That makes it easier to understand. A lot of speakers do not concern about their talk instead they spend more time to decorate Power Point. It is sometimes true that audience like Power Point if they are made in a funny and interested way. However, the listeners get bored about the topic that is presented if the speaker reads off the whole Power Point instead of explaining themSome people could also think that power point is not a good idea baecause the kids wont learn thath much by using the power point and they wont consentrate on the teacher and would only look at the funny pictures or the animations and just wait till the class is over. To make a good power point presentation i would make it easy as possible. There i mean not to have that much pictures ot annimation or popping letters or something like that. Just the main ideas and the general ideas and make it short as possible and also have everything in it.If i was a teacher i would use the power point and make it easy as possible. Using the ideas and the important titels which i need the kids to learn. I wouldnt always use power point because it gets boring by the time. And i would want the kids to take notes so that i can be sure they do work hard. These are my personal ideas to make a power poitn better.

PowerPoint Reading Assignment #2

In Tom Creed's article "PowerPoint No, Cyberspace Yes" he is reasoning why PowerPoint is not a useful teaching tool similar to Edward Tufte's recent article "PowerPoint is Evil".He points out that technology makes it possible for students do something better and even things that are impossible to do without technology. He is mainly talking about electronic communication like email, electronic conferencing versus PowerPoint and which is more useful for helping students learn in the classroom. He says that electronic conferencing is student centered and student controlled. PowerPoint however is the exact opposite; it is teacher centered and controlled. He also explained his way thinking in this quote,"Using PowerPoint in the classroom doesn't necessarily make you a bad person. It does, however, mean that your emphasis is on the quality of your presentation rather than your students' learning." His way of thoughts are very simmilar to Edward Tufte way of thinking. The main difference he talks about it that electronic communication is student centered and is controlled by the students, while the PowerPoint is teacher centered and controlled by the teachers.Just like the article "PowerPoint is Evil," he does not think the colors, sounds and videos as good things to use in the presentation, because it does not really help people to make their points powerfully as it is name, and it is useless.First he was making fun of Power Pint now he wants to lean to love Power Point.

power point

They are descussing about the power point if it is a good thing to use or a bad thing to use. In many ways people tink it is a good thing to use power point. As i read the aguemant about the power point i saw Tom Rocklin saying that it is a good thing to use a power point because teachers and students feel better with it. it makes a lot eayier for the student to understand. The teacher also feel much easier to work wiht the power point. Ecspeacially the teachers which cant draw very good. If i was a teacher i would have also choosen to work with the ower point becausse it is much easier. It doest need thath much work like to do a big graph where you write and draw very much which is also harder for the kids to understand. In other way people say that power point is really really bad to use because the kids will be verry lazy. They say that the teachers sohuldnt use the power poitn at school and work really hard. The kids dont need to work on the power point. They have to work on a piece of parer and bring it to school and work on that for their rest of there life. They also say thath power point distracts you very much because of their grafics and ther pictures which is goin on while a presentation on an power point. I would say the people who is against the power poitn shold atleast try to work once on the power point and not just say thath its bad. And they shoudl let their kids decide if they want to work on the power point or not. It is the kids who is workin on the power point and not the adults. If it is fun for the kids to work on the power point then they should letr them wwork on it.
